Norfolk Gliding Club was established over 60 years ago, and operates from our home at Tibenham Airfield, in South Norfolk.

We fly Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the year with Gliding Courses running regularly between April and October each year.

The Club offers unique facilities for all sorts and conditions of aviators, from ‘Fundit’ to Pundit; Competition Pilot to World Champion, along with a growing number of power pilots, attracted by our three excellent runways. A highly qualified and hard-working band of enthusiastic instructors give freely of time & expertise to uphold our record as a training club.

NGC SKY PASS – Discover Gliding

Kick start your aviation dreams by having a flight with Norfolk Gliding Club.

One of our friendly BGA qualified instructors will provide a classroom brief prior to taking you out onto the airfield for a flight in one of our modern 2-seater training gliders. During the flight you’ll get the chance to take control and see some of the stunning views of South Norfolk. If you’re really lucky you might even get to soar with our local buzzards! If you’d rather sit back and ‘enjoy the ride’ just let us know and we’ll happily accommodate.

Courses we offer

Gliding can be an enormously pleasurable pastime, and everyone needs to start somewhere. Whether you just want to experience the relaxing sensation of unpowered flight while letting someone else take care of the glider, or whether you’d like to train to become a skilled pilot, Norfolk Gliding Club can help.

The club has a fleet of two 2-seaters, and 2 single seaters which are available for members’ use.

Talk to us about training, licence extensions, examinations for gliding and how we might help kick start or rejuvenate your flying ambitions!

Glideability

Through the support and funding of various organizations, we have adapted a dual-control training glider for use by individuals with no lower limb control. While fewer than 10% of participants require hand controls, it's important to recognize that flying a glider is possible for many individuals with disabilities. If you have good arm mobility and can drive a car, you may be able to fly a glider! We understand that not all disabilities are physical, and we are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all. Whether your disability is physical, sensory, or cognitive, we can cater to a wide range of needs. We encourage individuals to reach out to discuss their specific requirements, and we are here to ensure that you have the support you need. Our team is always ready to have an open conversation about your disability and any accommodations or limitations that may exist at the club.

Group Bookings

Group Bookings can be made for 10 or more people for weekdays or evenings and are available throughout the summer (April to September). Launch by either winch or aerotow in a two seater training glider with a BGA qualified instructor and experience the exhilaration of silent flight. We can also provide catering if you’d like to fill up after your flight.
